VendWise
A profit and reconciliation app for Jumia vendors in Ghana. It shows what each sale really earned after Jumia's fees, and checks every weekly statement for money Jumia still owes.

What it is
VendWise is a phone-first app for people who sell on Jumia in Ghana, many of them with more than one shop. It turns Jumia’s order exports and account statements into a clear answer to “did I make money this week?”, and flags money that Jumia may still owe the vendor.
VendWise is built for Jumia vendors and is not affiliated with Jumia.
The problem
Vendor Center shows orders and sales, but the money that reaches a vendor is very different: commission that changes by category, a shipping contribution on every item, returns that cost the vendor, ads, penalties for a low seller score, and payouts that arrive a week later. Vendors track this in notebooks and spreadsheets, if at all, so losses on individual products and unpaid orders go unnoticed.
Key features
- Real profit per sale and per period, with Jumia’s commission and shipping contribution estimated from its fee table, then replaced by the real amounts once the sale appears on a statement.
- Statement import and matching: each weekly Jumia statement is matched line by line to orders, so every sale, fee, refund and credit lands on the right item.
- Money check: flags delivered orders Jumia has not paid after 14 days, penalties and charges with no reason, fees charged twice and payouts that came in short.
- Payouts: each weekly statement becomes a payout the vendor confirms when the money reaches their bank or Mobile Money.
- Learns the real commission rate of each product from past statements, so estimates for new sales match what Jumia actually charges.
- Price Lab: finds the Jumia price that gives the profit the vendor wants, and works offline.
The design
The brief was a serious finance tool that still feels exciting to open. The look pairs a deep green hero with large, confident numbers, a thin kente stripe as a Ghanaian signature, and gold kept for profit moments only. Charts carry the story: a 30 day profit chart, a pipeline from delivered to paid, and a waterfall that shows a sale shrinking to its profit. A floating tab bar keeps the main areas one tap away, with a gold button to add an order or expense. The screens below use sample data.

The front page
The public page for vendwisegh.com has one job: make a Ghanaian Jumia vendor feel that this tool understands their shop. Two earlier, more abstract drafts were set aside as too generic. The design that stuck is photo led: a vendor in her stock room fills the hero, and a small order card on the photo shows a GH₵439 sale shrinking to the GH₵203.76 the vendor actually kept. A ticker under the hero scrolls through money moments (kept, paid, returned, claim ready), and the page goes on to what VendWise does, who it is for, prices in cedis and the Jumia Vendors Ghana WhatsApp group. It is laid out for phones and desktop, with motion planned for the headline, a count up on the order card and the ticker. I designed it in Figma; the photos are AI generated placeholders until real vendor photos are taken.

My role
I lead the product and build it end to end: the profit and reconciliation rules, the API and database, the mobile app and the UI design. The rules were tested against six months of real statements from a working Jumia shop before they were turned on. VendWise is now live at vendwisegh.com, syncing real Jumia shops through Jumia’s seller API, with paid subscriptions by Mobile Money or card.
